JECI’s Social Responsibility — Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

JECI embraces a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and civic well-being through its participation in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, India’s national initiative aimed at fostering a cleaner, healthier environment.

Below are the key ways in which JECI contributes:

Community Clean-Up Drives

Organizing or participating in clean-ups of public spaces (parks, streets, beaches), engaging local communities, families, and students to remove litter and waste.

Waste Segregation and Recycling

Educating people on separating biodegradable vs non-biodegradable waste at source—homes, workplaces, and communities—to improve recycling and proper disposal.

Promoting Hygiene & Sanitation

Spreading awareness about good hygiene practices and advocating for the use of toilets in households / public places to eradicate open defecation.

Educational Campaigns

Conducting workshops, creative and interactive sessions (art, drama etc.) especially targeting children and less-privileged communities, to raise awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and environment conservation.

Adopt-a-Spot Initiatives

Taking responsibility for specific public spots/localities—regularly cleaning, beautifying and maintaining them, encouraging others to follow.

Support for Government Initiatives

JECI participates in government-led programs under the Swachh Bharat Mission, aligning with policy goals and contributing feedback or suggestions for improvement.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Promoting sustainable lifestyle choices—minimizing consumption, reusing items when possible, recycling paper, plastic, glass, metal—through community learning and awareness.

Special Program for Children from Economically Disadvantaged Communities

Voluntarily initiating targeted programs under Swachh Bharat for children in underprivileged communities—to impart knowledge about cleanliness, enabling them to aspire for better futures.
